About Me
WELCOME everybody to Easy Bass Vids!
The site’s official opening date is May,1-2009
My name’s Jon Brickley and I’ve been a working bass player, in the trenches
doing it for 25 years. I’m here to share this experience and teach you
how to CRUSH IT on bass!
See, besides my Berklee training, I’ve been very lucky to perform and record with
some amazingly talented musicians such as Felicia Collins of ‘The Late Show
with David Letterman’ Band, Blues great Robert Charles, and Johnny Mac who
played in Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force Band, just to name a few.
But I still remember what I went through trying to learn!
Back in the day I spent a LOT of freaking money on all kinds of bass
teaching tapes, CDs, DVDs, and endless method books. All of them had HUGE
promises but ended up gathering dust on my shelves because most of them turned
out to be USELESS!
It was a serious pain to spend so much money on bass learning materials that
were either poorly written for beginners, or was just a big name player showing off his
favorite licks.
It took me two years of working my butt off and asking randomly for help from fellow
players before I could honestly say to myself, “I can really play bass!”
Now I’m here to HELP you bypass all the internet garbage and confusing tutorials so
you can learn to play bass in quick and painless steps.
You can be sure you’ll learn some killer bass techniques from a guy whos been gigging and
recording for 25 years now and NOT from some self-proclaimed bedroom bass instructor who
completely lacks real experience (I’m not kidding – they’re all over the internet!).
And lemme tell you, once you pick up bad playing habits from these guys, it’s difficult to
un-learn them. Been there myself and wouldn’t recommend it. So do yourself a favor and don’t
let these POSERS fool you!
OK, here’s the deal – Join my bass community and let me know what you wanna
learn. Yeah that’s right – YOU tell me what you need to learn on bass, and I’ll
make up a video tutorial for you! How about that?
You’re also WELCOME to ask me any question about playing bass – I’ll be
hanging around here and will reply asap.
Alright boss, talk to you soon!

Great! I love this website, I use it a lot since beginning to learn bass and it’s pretty simple. Keep posting easy bassline videos!
I have really enjoyed your videos playing bass. They are to the point and easy to understand. they gave me a start but don’t know where to get more advance lessons to learn more that explains the bass the way you do. Thanks for posting your videos. Kick it with my bass now thanks to you
Jon,
I would like to learn Keep Your Hands To Yourself. Would it be possible to send me a link to a video? For whatever reason I am having trouble with this song. Thank you.
Kathy
Dear John,
It’s great to find you on Youtube. I have been a brazilian vocalist all my life, but last year I decided to learn the bass guitar, so I could have something for my fingers to pass the time and exercise my hands, and although it’s been hard, after 55 yrs of age, but quite a lot of fun none the less, I keep persisting on my journey.
I already joined the church band where I am obligated to play a few styles of music it’s always different music all the time, since it’s a brazilian church.
Anyway, your videos have helped me quite a lot. Thank you very much for your passion and investing the time to teach us.
My question is: have you ever posted any video about Pentatonic Scales, Triads and Chords?
I would love to see some teaching about that, since you have a very clean, objective and wonderful way of teaching us how to get there.
I appreciate very much you work. You’re a wonderful teacher.

i am trying to learn the bass, but like you stated i’ve bought books and dvd’s and they are not much help. so what’s the cost to join (membership)because nothing is free?
Hi there, I am new to your site but so glad I have found it. I love the spider exercise, it’s my first day using it and already my hands are tired. I hardly ever use my pinky but now I need to, this is a great stamina exercise. Also my band wants to play “Sweet Home Alabama” but I was hesitant, but now thanks to your vid, we can chalk up another song to our set list.
my request for a tutorial video is “don’t stop believing” by Journey, I can play a little of the song already but what I cant get is the great popping sounds at the ends of the riffs.when he plays the e-f(d-string 2-3 frets) and maybe an overall way to get the groove right.
I see it has been over a year since your last archive, so I hope you get this.
Thanks,
Mark
